A Step Toward Hope

Miles Technologies, in cooperation with the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation, will host a spectacular event at The Enterprise Center the evening of June 16, 2005 to raise funds for paralysis research.

Justin Time Auction is proud to announce having been selected to provide auctioneering services for this gala event. Our very own Paul B. Showers will provide the live auction portion of the fund raiser. The event will be an outstanding way to pay tribute to Christopher Reeve's legacy and support his efforts to find a cure for paralysis.

The event will feature special awards presentations by Miles Technologies and the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation, Philadelphia and New Jersey celebrities, more than $100,000 in auction items and the beautiful backdrop of the expansive Enterprise Center in Mt Laurel New Jersey.

Some Information About the Mission:
The Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation (CRPF) is committed to funding research that develops treatments and cures for paralysis caused by spinal cord injury and other central nervous system disorders. CRPF vigorously works to improve the quality of life for people living with disabilities through its grants program, Paralysis Resource Center and advocacy efforts.

Background:
CRPF is the result of a merger between the American Paralysis Association (APA) and the Christopher Reeve Foundation (CRF). Founded in 1982, APA established an international leadership role in funding spinal cord research. CRF, founded in 1996, partnered with APA to direct its funds into these proven research channels, including a collaborative network of over 400 investigators around the world. Together, the two nonprofit organizations joined to provide support for many of the seminal studies that will culminate in continued medical breakthroughs. To date, CRPF has funded over $48 million in research grants.

Founded:
1999

Research Programs:
Consortium – The CRPF Consortium on Spinal Cord Injury focuses the expertise and scientific tools of a group of international neuroscientists on developing therapies for recovery from chronic spinal cord injury. Such collaboration is the first of its kind for the spinal cord research field.

Individual Awards:
A Science Advisory Council reviews proposals for an individual grants program and makes funding recommendations to the Board of Directors for two-year research grants, with a maximum funding level of $75,000 per year. The second year of support is contingent upon demonstrated success during the first year, and approval by the Science Advisory Council.

Quality of Life Programs:
The Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation (CRPF) provides more than $1.2 million annually in Quality of Life grants to organizations that help improve opportunities, access and day-to-day quality of life for individuals living with paralysis and their families. This program recognizes the unique and numerous needs of these individuals and the importance of providing services and programs that enable them to participate in all areas of life.

Christopher & Dana Reeve Paralysis Resource Center (PRC):
